Tanya Collin-Histed to move to the EGA full time

During her time as Chief Executive of the Gauchers Association the Charity has grown in size, stature and profile and its impact on the Gaucher Community in the UK has been significant. Her support for all patients with rare diseases and involvement in the delivery of world class healthcare for patients with Rare diseases has been ground breaking. She has expertly lead the small charity and ensured that the interests of the patient has remained at the forefront of all the Associations actions at all times. She became the “go to person” not just for patients and medical practitioners but also for industry and the authorities.

Over the last few years Tanya has combined her role with a role of Chief Executive Officer of the European Gaucher Alliance and as that organisation transitions into a Global organisation she will be devoting all her time and energies to the development of the EGA and the service of its member organisations.

She has been the driving force behind everything the Association has been able to achieve and will be sorely missed. However we are delighted that Tanya has decided to continue working within the Gaucher community and that patients all over the world will be able to benefit from her dedication and passion for many years to come. We are sure that she will remain a close friend and colleague of the UK Association.”

Tanya says, “The last 21 years with the Gauchers Association as a volunteer and then an employee has been a life changing experience and it has been an honour and a pleasure to have served the UK Gaucher community. It has been a privilege  to work alongside some truly amazing people on the Board and with my team in the office. Since the diagnosis of my daughter Maddie in 1996, Gaucher disease has played a significant role in my life, and I am honoured now to take up a global role full time, seeking to bring healthcare to those in need  and to work collaboratively to address unmet need and access to treatment on a global scale.”
