Trustees Week 13th November

Welcome to Trustees Week. There are approximately 196,000 charities in the whole of the UK and just over 1 million trustees. Who are our trustees?

Dan Brown – Was diagnosed with type I Gaucher disease in 2003. He became involved in the Gauchers Association to not only meet other people with Gaucher but to also give something back. Dan was appointed chairman of the Gauchers Association in 2012.

Jeremy Manuel OBE- Co-founded the Gauchers Association in 1991 and was Chairman for 20 years. Jeremy is a practising Lawyer and an accredited Commercial Mediator. He was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 1994 and an OBE in the Queens New Year Honours List 1999 for services to the Gauchers Disease and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Alan Rosen – Became involved in the Gauchers Association when his son Jamie was diagnosed with type I Gaucher disease in 2002. Alan has been involved in retail businesses for over 30 years. He is married to Sharon and along with Jamie they have a daughter Carly. Alan and Sharon are very proud grandparents.

Emily Lew – Was diagnosed with type I Gaucher disease when she was a teenager. Emily wanted to give something back to the community in return for the support she received from the Association. Emily is a solicitor and lives in London with her husband and two children.

Andrew Bloom – Was diagnosed with type I Gaucher disease in 2008 and feels very fortunate to have access to treatment. Andrew decided he wanted to get involved and support the Association as feels he has benefitted greatly from them. Andrew is a chartered accountant and married to Della, they have three children.

Maddie Collin – Was diagnosed with type 3 Gaucher disease in 1996 aged 17 months. Maddie decided to get involved to not only learn more about current issues facing Gaucher patients but to also represent type 3 patients at meetings. Maddie feels very privileged to be a part of the Association, which has provided much comfort and support over the years, both to herself and her family. Maddie is currently a student at the University of Bath studying Social Sciences.
